I am very happy to announce that my book, Kelvoo's Testimonial, received a "starred review" at Kirkus Reviews! A Kirkus star is for "books of remarkable merit" and is only awarded to 2-3 percent of submissions from indie authors like me! Sadly, the review of my book on Reedsy Discovery was mediocre at best. Based on some initial feedback to my book, I'm thinking that I should target Kelvoo's Testimonial more toward readers who appreciate thought-provoking stories that delve into human nature, rather than those who just want a standard sci-fi adventure. Make no mistake - Kelvoo's Testimonial has plenty of action and suspense, but it does spend a fair bit of time getting the reader acquainted with the main character, Kelvoo, in order to fully describe the impact of human first contact on Kelvoo's species. On the whole, I would say that Kelvoo's Testimonial will appeal to readers who love a story like "Klara and the Sun", rather than those who would prefer "The Cassidy Chronicles". I will have to wait and see the reaction to Kelvoo's Testimonial in the coming weeks and months!
