If this election cycle has shown us anything, it is that social media platforms poison the mind. I'm out. If you want to reach me, please do so by email. Good luck to all of you, and I hope you will all examine the efficacy of social media and fight-or-flight news coverage in your own life.

The reviews for my new release Balancers are starting to trickle in, and people seem to be enjoying the book. It's an excellent story with relatable characters, in a genre-bending environment and plot that defies the normal conventions of Urban vs. Speculative vs. Supernatural fantasy fiction. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08D8PBCS5

Thank you so much for taking the time to read the book, and to write such a comprehensive review. Of course I am disappointed in the 3-star rating but I fully appreciate your honest review of the book. The opinions expressed about politics are opinions about what is wrong with BOTH the extreme right and extreme left, and are meant to show why those extreme viewpoints should be given no credibility. It is my own fault for not making that more clear, and I hope readers will be able to understand that.

This is my first time reading a work by Colson Whitehead. One of the things that almost immediately jumped out at me, and which continued to blow my mind throughout reading the book, was how efficient his writing is. As a writer myself, I admit I was almost intimidated by how good it was. Whitehead has an amazing ability to find precisely the right word, and use it precisely the right way, to describe what might take me a full sentence or two. It's descriptive without being bulky, like eating a 95% lean steak. It gives the reader so much power to imagine environments, situations, and the people within them. The story is powerful, and the end was not what I expected at all. The Nickel Boys is a powerful tale of a tragedy that took place, and knowing it is based on true events makes it even more heartbreaking. There is no gratuitous description of the horrors that occurred - we are left to our own imaginations and our own feelings. I highly recommend this book. It is powerful, agile, and moving.
