It was a nice book, highlighting the beauty and dangers of the exotic continent of Africa. Three men strike an unlikely friendship, to look for Sir Henry's brother, George. They soon meet a party of Kukuana warriors who are about to kill them to protect themselves, they style themselves "white men from the stars", causing their captors to recoil in fear. They are brought before King Twala, who rules over his people with ruthless violence. An evil, impossibly ancient hag named Gagool is his chief advisor. Umbopa, their servant soon after reveals: he is Ignosi, the rightful king of the Kukuanas .After a tedious war, they are triumphant .They also capture Gagool, who reluctantly leads them to King Solomon's Mines. She shows them a treasure room inside a mountain, carved deep within the living rock and full of gold, diamonds, and ivory. She then treacherously sneaks out while they are admiring the hoard through the mine's vast stone door. Taking a different route, they find Sir Henry's brother stranded in an oasis by a broken leg, unable to go forward or back. They return to Durban and eventually to England, wealthy enough to live comfortable lives.

I'm rereading but it's still awesome !😊 This book starts at the Wilderness School, a school which teaches ' valuable life skills ' . It tells the tale of three unlikely friends, a son of Jupiter with no memory of his past ; a daughter of Aphrodite and a famous Cherokee movie star ; a son of Hephaestus who loves to play pranks, destined to save Hera, the imprisoned queen of Olympus. They are shocked when a classmate, Dylan, reveals his true identity as a storm spirit, a venti and Coach Hedge reveals his nature as a satyr. The three arrive at camp half-blood and have the same vision, sent by Hera, to free her. They fight many monsters, evil sorcerers and kings who have returned from the dead such as Midas, Medea, the snow queen Khione, Ma Gasket the cyclopes and finally, the king of the giants, Porphyrion. He is no match for Jason, but Piper and Leo break Hera's cage, who summons all her power to defeat the monsters. They learn their true enemy, the oldest, most primordial goddess, mother of titans-Gaea. This amazing book is worth more than 5 stars as the story plot is well-balanced and every chapter is a cliffhanger. Thank You !
