The timeless masterpiece "On the Waterfront" captivates readers from the opening page and doesn't let go until the very end. A gripping story of corruption, devotion, and forgiveness is told in this book by renowned author Budd Schulberg against the gritty backdrop of the New York City waterfront in the 1950s. The plot centers on Terry Malloy, a former prizefighter turned longshoreman who becomes entangled in the union controlled by the mob's web of violence and corruption. Terry gets drawn into a perilous game of power and betrayal as he struggles with his conscience and the effects of his deeds. The writing of Schulberg, which masterfully depicts the brutal realities of life on the waterfront, is exceptional.
