My current read is Celebration of Discipline by Richard J. Foster. I was recommended this book by my Pastor to read during the Lenten fasting. I am currently on page 126, in Chapter 9: The Discipline of Service. I just found the companion workbook that goes along with the book. I would recommend you read both the companion workbook and the book together and take your time. The information that Foster writes needs not to be rushed, but digested and reflected on.

I read this book for Read Across America at the beginning of March 2024. National Education Association, NEA picked this book for the month of March for the year long Read Across America. The month of March was to share the theme of diversity. When I saw that this book was chosen, I did not hesitate to read it for myself. The color and illustrations drew me in. The author included some Spanish words such as "corona" for crown, and "canasta" for basket. I would recommend this book for children ages 3-10. I read this book to a group of toddlers and preschoolers as well as a 3rd grade class. I had the 3rd graders create a story with flowers just like in the story. I have a deeper connection with flowers after reading this book. When I think of roses, I think of my mom and dad, since my dad would gift roses to my mom. When I see Carnations, I would think of my grandmother, because she loved carnations. When I see daffodils, I think of the changes of seasons, from winter to spring. When I see the hints of flowers beginning to bloom, it states that life is beginning again.

I want to thank Gina Detwiler, the author of gifting me a copy of this book. This novel is considered Christian YA Fantasy. This novel is book 1 of a series. This book follows Grace, a teenage girl who has been dealt some pretty awful cards, such as being involved in fatal car crash as a young child, and a school shooting. There is one thing that protects her from the troubles in this world, her voice. With this book being Christian Fantasy, there is the theme of good vs evil. Angels vs demons. God vs satan. There are also many times in the book where the characters are praying and even witnessing an exorcism. The book of Enoch, which is not apart of the Christian Bible is referenced, and the story of fallen angels and Nephilim is told, since Jared is half demon. I would recommend this book to anyone, if there are open minded enough to read the Christian themes in the story. I strongly recommend this book to Christians, especially to Christian teens, who need to understand the spiritual battle that happens that we can not see. Even I didn't realize how many battles, angels are fighting in the spiritual realm. This story, inspired me to continually pray. Trigger Warning / TW: drug use, drug abuse, alcohol use, death, school shooting
