The story is, in fact, factual, with only name changes to the characters and the names of the government entities. All stories and incidents mentioned are actual events that I faced during my tenure at the port.
I grappled with trying to keep the narrative nonjudgemental; that's throwing no one under the bus, so to speak. The memoir pays homage to the persons who were a part of the Crank It Up initiative in memory of their record-breaking achievement.
Once again, your kind words and keen insight really mean more to me than I can put into words.
