4 months agoI’m delighted to have my short story collection, Town and Country: Voices from the Mid-Ohio Valley, listed for Reedsy Discovery fans, and I invite your comments and reviews. T&C presents a wide variety of stories that nevertheless share a common setting in which ordinary people must deal with the region’s declining fortunes. Some succeed; some do not. In many ways T&C represents a counterpoint to J. D. Vance’s Hillbilly Elegy. Whereas Vance’s message is essentially “get out of the region,” T&C focuses on those who stayed. I intend the collection as a tribute to the perseverance and tenacity of all West Virginians. –Carl Parsons
