I loved everything about this book. While it does seem simple, I had to try to look at the book through the eyes of my five year old daughter. Each phrase is simple, but powerful. I like the fact that it is written as if the child is an entrepreneur which would likely cause a separate conversation with the children reading the book. The career choice of the little girl of the book is admirable as it encourages children to march to the beat of their own drum but it would have been just as good to have the career as a more defined career.

It seems as if the focus of the entrepreneur changes throughout the book which is good as it shows children that they do not have to be stuck in one career field and can change if they are unhappy. However, it could encourage them to change trajectories every few years and thus lead to never mastering a craft but that is too deep for the book. Overall, this was about instilling positive, intangible attributes in the reader than it was about making a career choice.

I have not even got to mention the illustrations. I was highly impressed with the quality of the graphics. The images are bright and colorful that would captivate the eyes of any child but they are not overwhelming to look at either. They are simple enough that they please the eye.

I would highly recommend this book to parents or grandparents of small children until about first grade. While the story is centered around a little girl, the sentences of the book could easily apply to a boy just the same although they likely would not like it as much due to the amount of pink, purple, and the unicorn that shows up.

The biggest category on my blog is book reviews. I am constantly reading and I love to tell others about what I have been reading. This would be an extension of my other media work.
