Synopsis

In a seemingly serene countryside home, there’s a dark and twisted history that threatens the lives of its new occupants...

When pregnant Alice Warren and her husband Paul settled into their dream home in the woods, all was blissful. But as Alice attempts to adjust to her new life in the countryside, a string of strange happenings occur, from a dead deer by the door to strange sounds in the night.
Alice believes that there’s more to these occurrences than they appear, but Paul believes her paranoia is simply an overreaction.
Until she vanishes, leaving behind a cryptic letter. The police force think that she ran away of her own accord.

But the town’s detective Heather Bishop believes differently.
From missing hikers to a twisted cold case, Heather learns that there’s more to the forest than the tall trees and the dark lake...

The environment and spirituality are discussed in the collection of poems and essays "The Lady in the Woods.". June Cotner and Reverend Gary Kowalski put together the collection of writings by well-known poets and authors as well as some lesser-known authors.

The book is divided into six parts, each with a different theme: "Nature's Majesty," "Seasons of Change," "Celebrating Life," "Companions on the Journey," "Beyond Words," and "Blessings and Benedictions.". Each part is introduced by a short essay that gives background information and insight into the issues.

The difference between "The Lady in the Woods" and earlier collections of environmental poetry is the emphasis on spirituality. The multiplicity of voices found in "The Lady in the Woods" is one of its strengths. The collection contains writings from poets and authors with a variety of origins and viewpoints, including African American poet Langston Hughes and Native American writer Joy Harjo. Because of this diversity, a wide range of perspectives and experiences can be exchanged, resulting in a vibrant tapestry of thoughts and feelings.

"Beyond Words," a segment that stands out, contains works that examine the elusive and intangible facets of nature and spirituality. Awe and wonder that many people experience upon witnessing the magnificence of the natural world are captured in the poetry in this area, which are exceptionally expressive and potent.

The book's inclusion of several lesser-known authors is another strength. The first parts of each section are interesting and helpful. They explain what the section is about and give more information about the songs. They are easy to read and make learning fun.

Sometimes, the songs in The Lady in the Woods can sound the same and talk about the same things. This might make some parts of the story not as exciting as they could be.

The Lady in the Woods is a book of pretty poems and stories about nature and how it can make us feel closer to something bigger than ourselves. Lots of different people wrote the book, so there are lots of different ideas to think about. The book is interesting and easy to understand, especially if you like poems about nature or want to think about how nature can help us feel better.
