There should not be a defined picture of what a family should look like. Families, like humans, come in all shapes, colors, and sizes. Sweet Little You by Joni Halabi "shares a unique story of a mother with a dream of having a child who makes her wish come true by having a baby on her own."
Some women choose to have and raise children independently, and that's their right—their decision. Sweet Little You by Joni Halabi shows through text (Joni Halabi) and illustrations (Lisa Wee) how much the baby is wanted and loved, even before their first breath.
In vitro fertilization is typical for those trying to conceive, no matter their relationship status. This subject matter is not typically discussed in a picture book format. I loved that it was. If I had a child conceived this way, I would share this book with them.
In Sweet Little You by Joni Halabi, "The story's new mother pens a love letter to her baby of how her child came to be and how she cherishes their little family of two. Through rhyming text shares the mother's promise to help them dream, explore, and find adventure in life."
Lisa Wee did a phenomenal job on all the illustrations. I adored the cover. It was fun-looking and captured my attention. Oh, and the little bundle of joy was precious from their head down to their tippy toes.
Amazon didn't list a recommended age range, but I think birth to 5 would be the ideal age range.
I will be recommended Sweet Little You by Joni Halabi to my fellow parents and the local library. I encourage anyone reading my review to share this story with your bundle of joy, no matter how they were conceived. Maybe consider gifting a copy to an expecting mother.
