👑 Let’s meet one of the characters! 🌹 Renee was a lonely teenager obsessed with Romantasy novels before the downfall of man at the hands of zombies. Never built to deal with horror, Renee finds herself the constant survivor in this new horrific world. She had given up when he found her. But when he forced her as his prisoner, it breathed a new purpose into her existence. Renee would learn the secret that might save humanity and destroy them. Only to get the information, she will have to get close to the king of the dead. When I chose Renee as the central character, I wanted someone softer, still strong, but a person that hadn’t been completely twisted by the horrific world that surrounds them. Someone with compassion, that could see past the monstrous exterior and perceive who the king really was. She’s a gentle soul but also plucky with a short temper. She has her flaws, as we all do, but I like her ability to adapt and make the best out of a bad situation. Renee isn't your typical "badass" survivor, no she's a sheltered suburban girl who happened to make it through "the end" until she was taken by the King of the Dead and his horde. She's a bit immature because she was a teenager when everything fell apart, left alone to make it on her own. I wanted to ground this story with a main character that could be anyone of the readers. She loved romantasy and had her head in the clouds until she lost everything. Why does the King take her? Well you'll have to read to find that out 😉 Release 3/27/25

I realized I never posted the blurb. This might change before the release in March but not by too much. Almost a decade after the fall of man. The undead ruled the world now, and somehow Renee was still alive. She’d only been a teenager when the apocalypse started and watched everyone around her die. She had given up when he found her. But when he forced her as his prisoner, it breathed a new purpose into her existence. Renee would learn the secret that might save humanity and destroy them. Only to get the information, she will have to get close to the king of the dead. A ghost from his past; when his horde took the city and he saw her, Zane didn’t hesitate to seek her out. Without knowing it, she’d been the reason he’d become the monster he was. Given a second chance, he saved her and made her his own. Devastated when she didn’t remember him, but he couldn’t let her go, not this time. Zane will stop at nothing to make her his queen. They discover they are bound by more than circumstance, that life and death may not be what they believed and they can be reborn through love. Together they can create the Kingdom of the Dead.

I was once asked by a reader what inspired this story. I think King of the Dead was inspired from the same place most of my stories are. The monsters are every bit as monstrous as they should be, but even the darkest of souls still have light. Good people do bad things and bad people do good things. It’s the balance that keeps the world spinning. Monsters just have to work harder to change (if they want to). They might never be able to change their exterior, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t worthy of the same things as others.
