Affirmations can be interpreted as either good or bad, depending on how they are used. For example, if you are told, "You are stupid!" or "You are lazy!" which are negative affirmations, then you may believe this is true over time. That is because your subconscious mind believes everything. It has no filter and doesn't know the difference between what's true and what's not.
Eventually, these limiting thoughts will make you lack confidence, feel insecure and think you are not good enough.
Similarly, positive affirmations can be powerful in telling yourself something positive about who you could be. In doing so, you create a new set of beliefs that can lead you to a positive result. For example, you can tell yourself, "I am smart, and I learn easily," or "I am healthy, and I eat healthy food!" which can bring confidence and positive results in your life.
In our youth, we embraced influences without choices. However, as adults, we have the power to choose what influences us. By practising daily positive affirmations, you are saying "yes" to positive change.
The best time to use daily affirmations is in the morning before you start your day, or before you go to bed, reminding yourself of who you truly are. You can be in your most comfortable place and read your affirmations. You can repeat them as often as you like. There are no rules – whatever works for you.
Effective positive affirmations are written in the present tense. They are positive, personal, and specific. Applying the CAD method explained in the second chapter of this book can be useful for you. There are positive affirmations for all seven areas of life presented in this book: Financial, Knowledge, Spiritual, Career & Business, Family, Social and Health.
If you think you are not making enough money or losing money, select a positive affirmation from Financial. If you think you are not intelligent or educated enough, select a positive affirmation from Knowledge. If you fear breaking the morals or ethics of some spiritual authority, select a positive affirmation from Spiritual. If you fear failure and want to improve results in your field of work, select a positive affirmation from Career & Business. If you fear losing loved ones or the respect of loved ones, select a positive affirmation from Family. If you fear rejection or want to improve social aspects of your life, select a positive affirmation from Social. If you don’t feel confident enough in your appearance, or seek more vitality and healing, select a positive affirmation from Health.
Some of you might be like me and simply want to improve all seven areas of life. If this is you, I suggest you select one positive affirmation from each area and make it specific to suit you.
The positive affirmations in this book are only partially completed, leaving you to make your selection specific and personal to you. To help you create personalised positive affirmations, the second chapter, ‘How to make effective positive affirmations’ is designed for you.
Saying your positive affirmations daily will help you stay positive, and give you self-empowerment when you need it. It has been and still is an integral part of my journey to a happier me. Try saying positive affirmations every day, and fostering positive beliefs and a good attitude to support how you want to live your life.
Thank you for choosing 'Daily Affirmations for a Happier You'. See you again in my next book!
