The story, in my opinion, was more about diversity and multi racial families than it was about being the best of both parents, as the title suggests. The idea of being the best of both parents were not the part of middle of the book. It was discussed in start and a little on end.

It also shows the viewpoint of a young girl and how she and her sister feel when others make fun of her. How they suffers,its too difficult and is briefly described. Readers will feel awful and hopefully learn to be kind to everyone, regardless of appearance.
