Dennis Strubbe – Thank you so much for the kind review! I feel bad that you were a little jarred by the ending, so I figured I owed you some degree of closure. Metifunger’s comment about “other Karens” was intended to leave readers with two impressions. The first is the possibility of a sequel, and the second—as hinted at by Metifunger’s smile—is that he finally IS messing with Mabel. Throughout the book, people have made exceptions for Mabel. The Sandys. Pixbury. Even Bryce’s boss. She’s the kind of person who compels that in others, without even trying. So maybe Metifunger, who always insists that he doesn’t mess with people, is finally making an exception for her too. Messing with her. I hope that helps. And thanks again!!!
