My passion is writing and illustrating children's picture books. I have published three so far and plan on creating one a year. Well, at least that's the plan. The books I have published in the last three years are, It's Music Time (a nearly wordless picture book), A Dog Named Zero and the Apple With No Name (a counting picture book), and You Can't Tickle Me (a monster in the house book)
One year and eight months ago I started writing The Good Witch of the South. I was inspired by the cover art. When I added the grapevine crown and tattoos to the fairy I became obsessed with knowing who she was and what her life was like.
Then it hit me, she was the daughter of Glinda The Good With of the South and she lived in Oz. Suddenly I knew exactly what to write and for some odd reason I wrote the epilogue first. From there, the entire story fell into place.
I will say this: What the heck was I thinking writing a book based on a classic? One thing is for sure, now that The Good Witch of the South is finished, I dearly miss my daily visits to Oz.
