You Deserve Each Other

I really enjoyed reading You Deserve Each Other and will recommend it if you want to read a funny, light-hearted second-chance romance about rediscovering love after a long period of stilly domesticity.

This book has awkward, comedic scenes in spades and dialogue that might send you wheezing. The protagonists and the host of side characters were funny and engaging and Naomi, the female protagonist, made my reading experience more than amazing.

Naomi and Nicholas were such dears and I was cheering for them from the very first page. I did get a little irked around 40% because their fights became a bit intense and off-putting, but I took it in good faith because their animosity was the driving force behind the plot.

This is a new-to-me author and I've got to commend her literary prowess and how she managed to inject humour into the most mundane narrative. I was laughing and crying while reading; and some other parts made me introspective.

The author explored the soft underbelly of relationships and how her protagonists handled their misgivings and showed the ripple effect it had on effectively strengthening their relationship framework. I enjoyed some of the antics they pulled on each other and loved that they finally found their way back to each other.

This was billed as a "wickedly funny, lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy debut,' and that's about right. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, there were too many laugh-out-loud scenes and as a person that suffers from a serious case of deep secondhand embarrassment, it took me an inordinate amount of time reading some scenes.

That said, I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to any and everybody that wants to read a realistic take on mending fences and treating love with care so that it flourishes.
