I enjoyed everything about this book. The story, the writing, the settings and the characters all felt very real and alive.
I started reading this book because I needed something different to read. I have
been reading so much fantasy it was all getting boring to me. I needed something
fresh. This was definitely fresh. What I liked about this book was that it felt very real. The dialogue, the thoughts, the settings, the characters, they are all very relatable. You felt like you were right there with him. He writes very down to earth, Although his writing style is relatable, and he is obviously a very good writer. It wasn't lofty with too much description or a lot of big words. He was telling a story and a story is what you got in all the aspects a good story is told. The short chapters were a plus also. I do not like long chapters.
Of course, like many other authors he left it on the cliff hanging. Some books I have read that did this I never went on to read the rest, more out of a rebellion against an unfinished book or story but I bought the other two books in this series once I finished this one, because I genuinely enjoyed the read and want to know what happens.
Helen spent the beginning of her writing career writing and directing plays for small theatrical events. She also wrote captivating short stories she would tell at fairs. With no lack of imagination she started writing books and publishing on her own. So far she has published seven books.
