Two Before Me is an excellent story which shows the grim realities of life, at times - how sacrifices have to be made for the greater good, even if at the detriment of our own happiness.

I wondered how the story was going to pan out. A husband and father essentially estranged by his wife yet the object of his daughter's affection; a wife who feels anything but desired; a woman who is drawn to a man whom she learns has a wife and child, even if feeling estranged from his wife.

Two Before Me is a book some would refuse to pick up because they don't want to read about potentially adulterous situations. It is a story others would read, wondering what would happen, may even hope the guy would leave his wife and start a life with the other woman.

I enjoyed the way the story was told, bringing me into the psyche of each character so I grew to understand how each character felt, and empathize with each one - regardless of the situation they found themselves. By the end of the story, neither of the main characters turned out to be an enemy, regardless of the thoughts which presented themselves through different stages of the story.

There was laughter; there were tears. There were moments of triumph and, others, of sorrow. Throughout it all, Two Before Me turned out to be a powerful, engaging story of courage and perseverence in the face of adversity.
