The book is recognised for its in-depth historical descriptions and its examination of subjects like loyalty, honour, and treachery.
J.R. Tomlin's historical fiction book "Trust and Treason" transports readers to mediaeval England and follows the travels of a nobleman by the name of Edric. This fascinating narrative, which takes place during King Henry II's reign, is a tale of loyalty, honour, and betrayal.
Edric, a nobleman who has always been a devoted subject of King Henry II, is introduced to us at the opening of the novel. He is an honourable individual who puts his reputation before all else. However, when he learns of a plot to depose the king, Edric is forced to decide between his allegiance to the ruler and his own sense of honour. The fact that the conspirators are his own friends and family members makes him have a difficult time making a choice.
Edric must deal with interpersonal difficulties as he attempts to make his way through the perilous political terrain, including a love triangle involving himself, his wife, and a childhood friend. The plot becomes deeper and more intricate as a result of these tensions, elevating it above the level of a simple historical fiction.
The accurate portrayal of mediaeval England in "Trust and Treason" is one of its strong points. Readers are transported to a different historical period by Tomlin's detailed and evocative descriptions of the surroundings, the people, and the traditions of the time. She has done her study, and it is evident in the way she vividly depicts this world on the page.
The characters in the book are yet another asset. Tomlin does a fantastic job of depicting the inner battle of Edric as he attempts to strike a balance between his allegiance to the monarch and his own sense of honour. Edric is a fascinating protagonist. Both Edric's wife, who is dealing with her own conflicted emotions, and his childhood buddy, who is caught between his allegiance to Edric and his responsibility to the conspirators, are additional well-drawn characters in the book.
"Trust and Treason" is a political intrigue, suspense, and action-packed plot. As well as gentler, more contemplative episodes that let readers peek into the characters' brains, there are times of intense tension and drama. The tale is constantly engaging and the pacing is superb.
Iām Manoj medisetty, as a reviewer I have a very good way of thinking and I genuinely give my opinion on the books
