"Thinking of Nature" by Amy Mucci is thought-provoking and beautifully written with lovely illustrations.
This beautiful earth can amaze and astound you.
Think of the wonders of nature around you!
Explore the natural world through rhyming text and engaging illustrations. This book encourages readers to practice mindfulness and think of different elements of nature. From the smell of the rain to the buzzing of bees, use all of your senses to discover the joys of the outdoors!
When we hear keywords like a flower, mountain, sky, forest, and ocean, our mind paints a picture of how we "see" them. A person hears the word "ocean," and they can suddenly hear the ocean in their head. One person might recall smelling a rose, while another remembers running through a field of wildflowers.
Each section in Thinking of Nature by Amy Mucci asks the reader/listener to think of various objects found in nature. These open-ended questions should lead to a discussion. If you're using this in a classroom, ask the students to write down their answers on a whiteboard, and then everyone will hold up their answers simultaneously. See who had the same thought and whose thoughts differed. I bet kids will get excited to see who matched theirs. If you're reading this book at home, you can still play the word association game with your child.
When you read the pages on mountains and oceans, ask your students who have seen either and which one(s). Look up images of mountain ranges and oceans. Allow your students to select a mountain to explore and create a presentation on it. Again, let's not just read the book...live the story.
During the forest segment, please have your child list all the animals they can think of that calls the forest their home. Then, maybe ask how many trees and plants they can name. Before my family walks in the woods, we always go over what not to touch: poison ivy and oak. This would be a great time to talk about poisonous plants as well.
For art class, use watercolor to create a sky. No wrong answers, just allowing a child to let their imagination shine!
As a parent and teacher, I can't wait to share this book with my child. I hope you will share it with your child or classroom.

I've been constructing reviews for over a decade and don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Most of the reviews will be featured on my blog (Kam's Place), Pinterest, Instagram, Goodreads, and X (formerly Twitter.) Don't forget to tip your waitress! :D
