I picked this up around 11pm to fall asleep to and finished it around 4:30am!
Not only could I not put this book down, but time seemed to stand still until I finished reading it. The only bad thing about this book is that time had not actually stopped while I was reading, I had stayed up almost all night, and I had to get up early and be an adult in the morning.
The characters are interesting and intriguing, the storyline is inventive and obviously addictive.
It is very rare that an author can surprise me, especially with a plot twist. Nothing about this book conforms to what you would expect. The three main characters are extremely flawed, and yet I found myself rather in love with all of them for different reasons. You end up rooting for the type of people that are usually the bad guys. It is definitely an lesson in not judging people too quickly. The relationships are twisted in a delicious way, and the ending Is completely different from anything you would expect…even after you are 3/4 of the way through the book. I absolutely LOVE the ending!
Although the book is an updated and creative take on Jane Eyre, I really didn’t remember much about that book, since it’s been so long since I’ve read it. That means you definitely don’t have to know that book in order to love this one. With that said, I almost never read a book twice; but, I plan to go read Jane Eyre and come back and read this again. I have to know if I will get even more out of the book once I do.
My advice? Go read this book!
