The fight to free the King of Atlantia from the wicked Blood Queen aka Penelophe's mother creates a suspenseful rollercoaster of emotions.
BEFORE I go into my review, I just want to explain all of the backlash, hate, and confusion with this book and spoilers. There will of course be NO spoilers in this review, but I just wanted to say a few things. First off, if you have NOT read this book or even read the SERIES at all you have no right to attack the author with hate comments and threats, OR have the right to rate a book anywhere. It made me sick when I saw on the media such as TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, the number of people who hated The War of Two Queens, because of how the characters acted towards one another or how they hated how there was too much or too little spice in (some scenes). But what readers-ESPECIALLY young and new readers in the book communities need to understand is that the AUTHOR has every right to do what she wants with HER characters. JLA( Jennifer L. Armentrout) should not be getting this much hate for a book she works so hard on to give us the conclusion we needed. Secondly, if you see any spoilers or hate comments on ANY media, DO NOT BELIEVE THEM, please. Everyone is just joining the bandwagon, hating on the author and her characters, when there is a high chance those haters haven't even read the book. And some of those haters might have read the book, but there is also a high chance that even they didnât take the time to fully understand the bond between the characters or the situation at hand throughout the book. Finally, if you have NOT read the book, please, please, please do not scare the lovers of the FBAA series who are not able to get their book yet because of shipping or if they are waiting for hard or paperback.
Moving on to the actual reviewâŚ.
MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD-You have been warned-
From reading FBAA(From Blood and Ash), and the books in the series before this book, I thought TWOTQ(The War of Two Queens) was beyond 5 stars. JLA gave us a new perspective of the characters and the bond Poppy has between her, Kieran, and Cas. I was so upset when people were hating on Poppy when they accused her of âemotional cheatingâ or cheating in general while Cas was suffering under the captivity of the Blood Crown and Golden Boy đ. I personally never saw or read where Poppy emotionally cheated on Cas with Kieran, all I read were two, very good friends who love each other and want to protect each other to do anything to save Cas. Again, it was the bond between Kieran and Poppy and their love for one another. There is no problem with two good friends caring for each other while they are both mortified for what might be happening to Cas. Moving on to the situations within the book. I cannot tell you more about how I ABSOLUTELY ADORED THIS BOOK. The suspense, the bonds, the relationships between NEW and OLD characters, ugh, I was in love and will forever be until the next book comes out. I loved how heart-mates played such a big role in this book between Poppy and Cas, Malik and (you know who, which, ugh I CRIED when he said it!!!!) and even between Isbitch-sorry Isbeth- and Malec, I loved because of the ending in the book. It made me excited, but I definitely pitied Isbeth as well, for certain reasons I will not explain, because of major spoilers. Throughout the end of golden crowns and throughout TWOTQ, I love how we see major character growth in Poppy. We see her become more confident in herself and her reign as the Queen of Atlantia as well as her finding who she really is. As the queen, she chose her people, her family, Cas, and the innocent people living under the Blood Crown's rule to show the people the truth behind the Blood Crown and the Rites. Poppy was a true leader in this book and JLA portrayed it beautifully. I fell in love with Poppyâs character even more because we saw how Poppy was powerful through blood, heart, and soul. Our main Wolven Kieran, oh my goodness, his relationship with Poppy and their bond throughout the book I thought was beautifully done. I personally fell in love with their friendship from the beginning of FBAA, but now that they have had time to bond more while they found a way to save Cas. I now see how much they love each other-not as much as Poppy or Kieran loves Cas- but a kind of love where they can rely on one another when it comes to anything. Our baby CasâŚI was heartbroken when it came to his POV throughout the book. He suffered and suffered, but he chose to suffer as long as Poppy was safe away from the Blood Crown and Isbeth. Casâs love for Poppy is so alluringâŚwe see how far Cas would go for Poppy to keep her and his family safe. It broke my heart that he sacrificed himself -back in the last book The Crown of Gilded Bones- to make sure Poppy was safe and away from Isbeth. I dearly missed Cas, Poppy, and Kieranâs relationship throughout the first half of the book and I loved them being reunited, even though it was SO STRESSFUL. I could not breathe through that chapter, but it was worth the emotional rollercoaster of anxiety, and prosperity in the end. I will end this review by talking about, possibly, my favorite solo character throughout the book. Reaver. OMG, I am in love with this man! His character, personality, sarcastic humorâŚI cannot wait to read more of him, hopefully in the next book. The way Reaver was with Poppy, Kieran, and even Cas and Malik, I was laugh-crying because he pissed off so many people for fun. Who wouldnât like Reaver though đ. I was so confused throughout the ending of the book, but I understood where JLA was going with it and am so excited with how she continues both her From Blood and Ash and A Shadow in the Ember series. Overall, this book was an emotional rollercoaster, but I fell even more in love with the story and the characters. THANK YOU JLA FOR THIS BOOK, WE LOVE YOU, AND CANNOT WAIT TO SEE WHAT COMES NEXT!!!â¤ď¸
My name is Ally and I love to read! Any fictional fantasy with romance and drama I can get my hands on I take with no second thoughts. My favorite book series is A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Mass, From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout.
