Bubbles are simple toys but possess one minor flaw: they don't stay still. If you blow them outside, a breeze can carry them up and away from eager hands. Children run as fast as they can, reaching with all their might to catch the shimmering blob before it disappears out of sight or pops of its volition. The sweet little girl (Alice) in The Trouble With Bubbles faced the thrills of chasing bubble after bubble. I loved her ingenuity of using a long stick to reach bubbles that would've otherwise been out of her grasp. When all the bubbles went POP, she knew just what to do. She grabbed her wand, dipped it into the tube, and created another storm of bubbles to keep the fun going longer.
The Trouble With Bubbles teaches children cause and effect and problem-solving using familiar, childhood play toys. The illustrations were sweet. The story was adorable as well. However, the story doesn't use the child's name once, despite stating it in the synopsis. I suggest adding it to the story or placing it on the cover so readers know this is just one book in the "Alice Book Series."
The Trouble With Bubbles is a heartwarming story that would make a perfect gift for birthdays, holidays, or any occasion. It would make a lovely addition to any school or home setting. I recommend sharing this story with your toddler(s) and preschooler(s) before heading outside for bubble magic.
