Synopsis
Third-generation racer Alex Moretti drives for his father, Andy, a motorsport legend and now expanding team owner. Moretti Motorsport seemed to hit a grand slam when landing a lucrative multi-year sponsorship deal with Unibank, a major banking institution based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
As Andy was advancing toward super-team status, the sponsorship relationship explodes when Alex is involved in a serious car accident, injuring the bank CEO’s youngest teenage daughter, Amanda, who is suddenly unconscious in a Las Vegas hospital and aborting a six-to-seven week pregnancy.
Released from the team, Alex spends two years in motorsport exile while Amanda’s father is hellbent on destroying the Morettis, threatening Andy with a multi-million dollar lawsuit and pushing criminal charges against his son, who is forced to travel the world for any free-lance ride in a race car he could muster.
When Alex finally gets a chance to resurrect his career, Amanda is pressured to testify against him following new inculpatory evidence from their past relations. As both push back against their feuding fathers, their forbidden romance is forced to a climax while playing out in the courts, the press, and in the corporate suites and backstretch of the world’s greatest motor race.
"The Race Girl" is a thrilling ride that transcends the world of motorsports to deliver a gripping tale of love, rivalry, and redemption. Despite my initial skepticism about the racing backdrop, I found myself captivated by Harrison's vivid portrayal of this high-stakes world.
At the heart of the story lies the Moretti family, particularly Alex Moretti, whose journey from reckless playboy to a man fighting for his redemption is both compelling and deeply human. Harrison's passion for racing shines through, drawing readers into the adrenaline-fueled excitement of the sport, regardless of their prior knowledge.
The characters are meticulously crafted, each serving a purpose in driving the plot forward. From the calculating villains to the star-crossed lovers at the center of it all, every character feels fleshed out and integral to the story's progression. The forbidden romance between Alex and Amanda is handled with sensitivity, evoking a sense of moral dilemma that keeps readers invested until the very end.
In many ways, "The Race Girl" reminded me of "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" by Taylor Jenkins Reid, both featuring forbidden romances, detailed flashbacks, and a nostalgic allure. However, Harrison's novel stands on its own, offering a unique and captivating narrative that will leave readers eagerly anticipating each twist and turn.
Overall, "The Race Girl" is a must-read for fans of romance, suspense, and compelling storytelling. Harrison's expert blend of high-octane action and heartfelt emotion makes for an unforgettable read that will stay with you long after the final lap.
"The Race Girl" accelerates into the heart with its thrilling blend of forbidden romance and high-stakes racing, leaving readers on the edge of their seats until the very last page.
I highly recommend you to read this book, the story is based on a cute girl who is participating in r.
