"The Halloween Bet" by Danny Wilson was a spooktacular book that'll entertain a wide range of ages.
The Halloween Bet is a fun haunted house young reader book about if Chad can stay in the haunted house for a whole hour. It has great traditional pictures of things found in a haunted house. This includes ghost and more. It is a great book adapted from a poem.
It even has a twist to the story at the end. You will enjoy this great short ghost story book for any time and the holiday.
I love reading holiday-themed stories to my young ones, and Halloween is our favorite holiday. We decorate our home, inside and out. The whole family dresses up, and we take turns handing out mini cereal boxes, fruit snacks, and grab bag size chips. We also love heading to the local (G-rated) haunted house to get our spook on.
When I saw The Halloween Bet by Danny Wilson up for grabs on Reedsy's site, I jumped at the chance to read it. The cover was fantastic, and so was the blurb (Amazon).

Readers will quickly notice the rhyme scheme and the use of common words proficient young readers should be familiar with now. If your child is just learning to read, The Halloween Bet has many simple words that would be a great starting point for them: ten, bet, my, pair, green, saw, hat, bat, hand, and boo (to list only a few).
I loved the use of images before certain rhyming words, such as the spooky picture of the green witch and eyes. They add suspense and will delight young readers. The ending moments reminded me of an episode of Scooby Doo. This might make more sense after you read the story. Oh, I encourage you to read it. It is rather spooktacular!
The Halloween Bet by Danny Wilson had many wonderful attributes: cover, storyline, color choices, design layout, suspense, and simple text. There's something to entertain many ages, which I adore since my home has children of various ages.
I can't wait to share this story with my youngsters in October. I know they will love it and want to read it a lot!
