In the very first month of the first year of his reign, Hezekiah reopened the doors of the Temple of the LORD and repaired them. He summoned the priests and Levites to meet him at the courtyard east of the Temple. He said to them, “Listen to me, you Levites! Purify yourselves, and purify the Temple of the LORD, the God of your ancestors.“ (2 Chronicles 29:3-5)
I love the way Hezekiah started his reign. There was no doubt, that he had a plan. His first and most important goal was to reestablish GOD’s presence in the Temple to open up the way for the LORD so that he can reign among his people. He opened up the Temple, and by this, he made room for the ways and the will of GOD for his people. Then, he took the authority that GOD had given him to reign over Israel.
There was one righteous man. One with the vision for a changed nation. One with the heart to obey GOD. One who said: ”Yes, I will see the LORD move among his people.” Only one young man took his GOD-given authority for the good — one who broke with all the evil habits and rules that were common in his time.
It was the first thing he did as king; Hezekiah didn’t wait. He made a clear statement about what he stood for and how he would reign in the Land. The highest priority was the LORD and his commandments.
In all the Nations of the earth right now, we can see that the doors of churches are closing more and more. It is time to take a stand like Hezekiah and open up the doors spiritually—to remember our good inheritance in the LORD Almighty for the rest and rescue of our souls and those who live in our nation.
Today we will proclaim together scriptures that open the doors, the veils, and the heavens spiritually for our nation. We want to prepare a way for the LORD: first in our hearts and minds, second in our family, and third in our nation. We will together proclaim that people who love GOD with passion will rise in the different areas of society and prepare the way for him in their area of influence. It is time to take the land back, establish GOD’s order, and speak righteousness, justice, and healing over our nation. But it starts with one pure heart that opens up the door and is willing to cleanse and purify everything so that GOD can have his way among us. So let’s stand with courage for a total turn around toward the LORD Almighty, try the impossible, and look prophetically on the good end. GOD gives you the ability to see what he wants to establish, to see the good end; this gives you power, courage, and endurance to pray until you see GOD move.
In this way, we will prepare a way for the LORD in our nation and among our generation. As it is written in Jeremiah, let us look for the old godly way, that our souls and those of the people in our nation find rest in him. Let us start our spiritual journey to the godly paths and roots, to change the circumstances in our nation.
Scriptures for today
· God says, “Rebuild the road! Clear away the rocks and stones so my people can return from captivity. (Isaiah 57:14)
· This is what the LORD says: “Stop at the crossroads and look around. Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls. (Jeremiah 6:16)
· “Look! I am sending my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. Then the Lord you are seeking will suddenly come to his Temple. The messenger of the covenant, whom you look for so eagerly, is surely coming,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. (Malachi 3:1)
Prayer-points for today
· Thank GOD for pure and courageous hearts to stand up and lead the people to purify themselves.
· Ask the LORD for the conscience and longing to see the good inheritance rise in your nation.
· Declare that righteous people will come into positions of government with great authority and rule righteously and humbly.
· Pray for the fear of the LORD in his people and they would stand up and search for him honestly.
· Thank the LORD for open hearts to welcome Jesus and open doors in every church to welcome his people to worship him.
· Pray that many will prepare a way for him, that the gospel can be preached everywhere, and the great harvest will be brought in.

I don't think anyone can get started reading a book by Susanne Weegmann and not get excited. There's a slight frisson of exhilaration and anticipation as you begin, and it builds with each new chapter. In this standalone copy, readers are introduced to a 40-day experience with the story of King Hezekiah. This journey reveals an immediate "call-to-action" for the wellbeing and spiritual investment of those who read it.
To be blunt, don't read this book if you think it's a fast read with no substance because you will be seriously mistaken. This 40-day journey will require you to think, interact, and expect discernment. Author Susanne Weegmann is calling you to utilize your prayer life, knowledge of King Hezekiah's example, and personal diligence to step into your own spiritual inheritance.
Within the book, we're given the steps through second Chronicles, devotions based on the given scriptures, additional scriptures, prayer encouragement, prayer points, and space for you to write notes as you go.
The reader learns about how Hezekiah's rule and organization of the priests, Levites, temple worship, and sacrifice play a daily role in the temporal and spiritual world. Prayer and praise are at the heart of these lessons. Weegmann gives her audience the comprehension and reasoning behind Hezekiah's worship and how it can benefit and bless followers of Christ today. She emphasizes that these scriptural directives have precedence in the latter days and why it's important for believers to continue to observe these customs.
This book breaks down the second book of Chronicles in a way that makes it applicable to modern life. Chapters are shared in terms of how God worked in King Hezekiah's day and how He works for you now. The theme of thanksgiving shows how people are blessed when they give gratitude and honor to God in the good times and continue to show Him acclaim in difficult times. King Hezekiah's people were able to see the surplus of their blessings when they concentrated on how good God was to them. We, Weegmann highlights, can experience this same overabundance when we make time with Him a priority.
Through The Great Turnaround, I felt an uplift between the knowledge I gained and my application of it. I encourage anyone who enjoys reading Christian nonfiction, spiritual self-help, and further Scriptural enlightenment to give it a read.
Thanks to the author and Reedsy Discovery for an ARC copy of this book to read and review.
