Must read 🏆

Amazing! I really enjoyed the author’s writing style and her approach to some issues we still battle with today.

Amazing! I got hooked from the beginning and couldn’t stop reading!

I really enjoyed Mackenzi Lee’s writing style and her approach to some issues we still battle with today –Percy dealing with racism and Henry not understanding it because he sees Percy as his equal, Henry suffering homophobic remarks and punishments for being who he is, and Felicity defying the norms of such time for women and educating herself in the matters she’s interested in (and being pretty amazing at it).

I also appreciate the way Henry’s trauma was portrayed, how we slowly start to see it, learn about it and finally see him break down and relying on Percy’s support. I swear every time he flinched all I wanted to do was hug him, but when he flinched at Felicity it really broke my heart.

And may I say, Scipio is one of the best characters in this book! I love how he trusted them and helped them achieve their goal, while being extremely supportive of their circumstances –one of his best moments is when he teaches Henry how to fight after suspecting about his trauma. Specially when he offers Felicity a place on his ship to do what she loves.

And lastly, learning how badly people with epilepsy were treated was very interesting. I hated seeing Percy accepting his fate and heading to Holland to be trapped in an Asylum for the rest of his days –although I get that he didn’t really have much of a choice– but was so glad that Henry made him want to fight for his life and freedom.

An amazing story full of shenanigans and adventures that reel you in and offer you a wonderful time. 100% recommend!
