Perfect balance between humour and emotion and quite an enjoyable experience.
While it wasn't as good as The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue it was pretty close.
The way that Percy and Henry deal with the obstacles they face (mainly themselves) to be together and seeing Henry spiralling in his own mind while Percy freaks out because he feels rejected felt extremely real and relatable.
I love seeing Felicity and Henry getting along and relying, helping and opening up to each other, and them and Percy getting along with the crew, basically everyone getting along with each other; specially Henry's relationship with Scipio. In the first book I saw their father/son dynamics and absolutely loved it and having it confirmed in this short story felt amazing and it made so happy.
I hope in the next book, The Lady's Guide to Petticoats and Piracy, we get to see more of Scipio and his crew, Henry and Percy.
In this book the author manages to achieve the perfect balance between humour and emotion and it is quite an enjoyable experience. Obviously, I would recommend reading The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue first, but I still think that it would be a cute short story even without the background : )
I've been an avid reader since I first learned how to read. Reading gives me the freedom to visit wonderful and breathtaking worlds and meet amazing characters from different backgrounds who help widen my perspective of the world we live in.
