Worth reading 😎

This was an interesting story and, all in all, I liked it. It was interesting seeing Matt struggle to have a normal life.

This was an interesting story and, all in all, I actually liked it.

I really liked Matt’s character: how we see him deal with his doubts about himself, Jason, his family, the life that has been set for him… How he struggles to have a normal life in the midst of his unfortunate situation.

I have to say that Matt’s relationship with Jason took me out of the story sometimes. Some of the conversations felt quite forced, I don’t think anyone (specially teenagers) would talk so explicitly about their feelings or praise each other like they do (I think it might have been the way the author phrased it sometimes). At times Jason sounded more like a therapist than a friend and while I get that their situation made them grow up and mature faster than other boys their age, I still found it a bit unrealistic.

Also, I liked the growth we see in Matt’s father and, although it can seem a little rushed, I think it can be excused with his near death experience. I like how we can see that the way Matt thinks of himself is mostly product of how his father (and family) treats him.
