Parents love to give cutesy nicknames to their children; sometimes, they are given before the baby is born. The mother in this story calls her son "Snicklefritz." I had never heard this pet name before, so I went online to see if it was real or made up for the book. Shockingly, it was a real name! The search informed me the term of endearment has a couple of meanings: troublemaker (usually referring to a little kid) or a mischievous, noisy child. I think the mom chose the appropriate nickname for her son.
Snicklefritz and his two furry best friends (cat and dog) were always up to something. Unlike the kitty in the book, the children will be amused by the feline's cape and mask. They might laugh right alongside the canine. The illustration of the kitty plugging its ears while the child and pup march and play music was funny. Children will also snicker at the toilet bowl boat image; parents, not so much. The dog's facial expression sums up that scene and every parent's thoughts: EWWW! The green-faced image might get an "eww" from adults and children. Barfing is never fun!
Kids will get messy and make messes, too. Sickness is inevitable. They'll be loud. Grouchy. Happy. Sad. Full of energy. They'll conk out every place but their bed. They'll make us tired AND bring us endless amounts of joy. One thing remains constant throughout every moment: our love for our child(ren).
That's Why I Love You, Snicklefritz! focuses on the love a mother has for her son. It's the perfect book to read anytime of the year, but especially around Mother's Day or a birthday.

I've been constructing reviews for over a decade and don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Most of the reviews will be featured on my blog (Kam's Place), Pinterest, Instagram, BlueSky, and Goodreads. Don't forget to tip your waitress! :D
