-“One is not beholden to other people’s version of reality, but one’s own.” A gripping, stunning, and full of suspense mystery!

Synopsis

Laurence Turner, a pharmacist from Sydney, is wracked with guilt after his fiancé dies on a sailing trip. The tragedy is followed by yet another fatal incident when he dispenses the wrong medication to a customer.

Laurence moves to the Clare Valley in South Australia for a fresh start, but when he stumbles across the dead body of a visiting American reporter, things take a turn for the worst.

The case explodes into far more than Laurence could ever expect with the arrival of a beautiful American woman, Skyler Hawthorne. Her troubles put Laurence in the path of both domestic and foreign agents, including a dangerous Russian spy who believes Laurence is hiding a secret.

-“The world is a two-way mirror…some of us are blessed to see what we truly are, some see what they think they are.”

-“Patience, and keep smiling.”

“Sometimes the good ones get tested more than others. They travel the hardest roads.”

-“One is not beholden to other people’s version of reality, but one’s own.”

A gripping, stunning, and full of suspense mystery!

I was snagged from the beginning, a slow burn storyline that ends with a mighty crash. With a down to Earth, dispirited protagonist whose situation went from bad to worse, you’d think it couldn’t get worse for the poor man! It’s so realistic, it could happen to any of us, that’s one of the scary things that held me enthralled to the book. The tenacity of the main character is admirable, even though at times he felt ready to give up; but human resilience is one of the good aspects that define us as a being. And who wouldn’t give up, with foreign and national government agents,  the police hard at his heels, the dire circumstances.. Khaled Talib has combined a perfect harmony of moral aspects with an action filled plot. It was a nerve racking experience, tension filled, anticipation and anxiety at its highest level. I highly recommend this book!
