Get ready to step into a magical world of exploration and discovery while learning the alphabet from fields and forest to wild wheat and wildflowers in this delightful picture book. Each letter of the alphabet is beautifully illustrated and has its own story to illustrate the letter or concepts associated with it. For example, the letter “T” includes: “Twilight casts the spell that calls the colors of the west to show and summons all the world to slow and all the stars to glow.” (How cool is that?)
Lyrical prose and a gentle rhyming pattern accompanies each letter. The prose is bright, vibrant, and creative. It’s almost melodic. Letters stand for tangible concepts or things such as Acorns, Botany, or Clover that ”shines like an emerald treasure trove.” But intangibles are also included, such as joy, kindness, light, stillness, and night.
Parents or grandparents may find the style reminiscent of the old McGuffey Readers.
Combined with creative and original prose, the artwork really makes this book. Colorful, bright, and wrapped in wit and whimsy, the illustrations will grab the attention of young readers and keep them turning pages as they join Sock Monkey on a journey through the alphabet from “Acorn” to “Zoologist” It’s So. Darn. Clever.
