A young woman sets out to investigate the disappearance of a fellow college student until she gets a text from the man in question.
Remember Me Tomorrow is a young adult mystery with romance elements by Farah Heron.
Remember Me Tomorrow follows our FMC, Aleeza, who adores anything related to mysteries. Luckily (or not) for her, the investigation into a missing student falls into her lap. Jay Hoque went missing six months ago, and everyone presumes he's dead, but Aleeza is determined to uncover the truth. Spurred on by ominous text messages from the boy in question, Aleeza interviews friends, exes and supposed enemies to try and piece together what happened leading up to Jay's disappearance. The only problem? Aleeza starts to fall in love with the man she's investigating.
I really enjoyed this! This was such a quick and easy read, yet I was so immersed in the storyline and characters. Aleeza was such a joy to follow, especially her love and passion for journalism paired with her determination to uncover what truly happened to Jay Hoque. I really liked how Heron approached the topic of race, and how Aleeza navigates college life as a Brown girl in a predominately White space — I felt like it added to Aleeza's character development but didn't take anything away from the plot. It's a shame that some readers missed the mark and denounced the book based on the fact it reflects the reality of South Asian people.
The fact that Aleez and Jay could communicate with each other despite being in different 'timelines' was so exciting. Jay, although standoff-ish at first, is a total sweetheart and is just more than willing to assist Aleeza in investigating his own disappearance. The slow-burn romance between the two was done well. Aleeza and Jay couldn't meet face-to-face but the chemistry and potential were there, and I think they make a great couple.
If you want an easy yet exciting read, I would recommend Remember Me Tomorrow!
