In a magical meadow not far away lives a wise old willow tree. The meadow is full of mystery and surprises, as rainbow colors shimmer all around. Any who go to the meadow can feel the magic if they choose to listen closely; and there is love and healing for all, if we dare to open our hearts. The universe is full of connections, just waiting for us to discover. The question is, will we venture forth and see past the hustle and bustle of everyday life so we can truly experience the magic in every moment?
Rainbow of Glowing Hearts: The Tale of the Healing Tree by Krysten Guilbault is a journey that blends the world of the fantastic and the everyday to form a truly unique story. With gentle rhyming text, this enchanted tale whisks the reader away to a magical place, a world so close to our own, and yet so full of magic. Encouraging the reader to slow down, and truly look at and listen to the wonders that surround us, the story reaches past the harsh veneer of modern life and shows the timelessness of nature. Highly detailed illustrations by Angie Bro further enhance the journey, with gorgeous colors and the juxtaposition of whimsey and realism creating an experience like no other. I liked the diversity represented in the book, as well as the common ground of the beauty of the outdoors that all races, religions, and cultures can share.
With lovely illustrations and a message of opening your heart to the healing touch of nature, there is very little to complain about in this book. The only detractions I found were a couple of times where the poetry layout confused the cadence of the words a little bit, and one forced rhyme at the end of the tale. However, these are small complaints for a truly daring work of art, one that challenges the reader to look past the ironclad "reality" of the modern world and connect to something higher.
Suitable for all ages, Rainbow of Glowing Hearts: The Tale of the Healing Tree is a remarkable story certain to leave an impression on your world. With illustrations and words working in concert to create something beautiful, this tale of the true magic of nature is something magical that all readers can share.
