Synopsis
Follow four friends growing up in the discounted seventies; broken homes, broken town, broken lives. And then Punk arrives... like a hammer blow... giving them a chance to make dreams, a chance to change. The ethos of Punk helps them fight for a life to live despite the crime, the danger; the whole knock you down pulse of the society around them. A Punk that helps them stay free from prison, and the gutter, and the mundane.
Punk Novelette may seem like fantasy but for so many of us growing up as punks and freaks and geeks this book was like coming home in a good way. Loved it so much and such a huge fanboy of Nick C Gerrard for all his work. This was the first book I read from him and loved every minute of it. Saving up to get any and all his work. He's writing style is edgy and direct like he is yet so soothing if you grew up in the scene. I had flashbacks of every show I went to and will fess up that this book reminded me of why I had a mad on for hardcore and moshpits.
Like life it's not all sunshine and rainbows but the real feel brought back good and bad memories That I will always cherish. So because we're not supposed to reveal spoiler's here I will spend the rest of this review Geeking out to how cool this book is and trying get everyone to go out and get a copy Today! the author and the book tells me a tale of times that I miss, and the author reminds me due to all his adventures in real life what can be reached for and achieved... even for someone grouchy- so get off the couch go sit in a place you remember with joy, park yer ass and read this book... You will not be disapointed.
