Must read 🏆

Night Marchers dips you into the Hawaiian mythology with captivating ambient sounds and suspense elements.

Synopsis

Eddie Ankin is back!

Former Marine Raider turned Hollywood stuntman Eddie Ankin was supposed to be enjoying some downtime on the sun-soaked beaches of Oahu. But when a fiery surf instructor named Mia pulls him into a scheme involving a powerful hotel tycoon and a stolen parcel, Eddie’s vacation turns into a high-stakes race for survival.

With a group of Hawaiian bikers on their tail and a corrupt businessman pulling strings from behind the scenes, Eddie has to navigate a criminal underworld as treacherous as the island’s sharp reefs. With tensions rising and the stakes higher than ever, Eddie’s quick thinking and combat skills are put to the test as he works every angle to outmaneuver his opponents. But the deeper he gets involved, the more he realizes that Mia isn’t the only one with a target on her back.

Fans of John Corey and Jack Reacher will be hooked on this action-packed thriller as Eddie battles on land and sea to keep Mia—and himself—alive.

J. Lincoln Fenn's Night Marchers is a chilling exploration of Hawaiian folklore that seamlessly blends horror and mystery. The novel introduces us to Julia, a young woman who becomes entangled in a terrifying supernatural event involving the Night Marchers, a procession of ancient Hawaiian spirits.

Night Marchers is a gruesome story based on Hawaiian myth where the spirits march on the streets at night to seek revenge on those that come into their space. The storyline has a lot of folklore details that helps to enrich the setting of the supernatural elements. Although there are effective scares and there is suspense within the story, the tempo varies at times and some characters come out as quite underdeveloped. Still, the plot is simply distinctive and enhances the whole mood of the narrativ, which makes it more interesting for fans of horror themed stories based on folklore.

What I Liked:

* Rich Cultural Tapestry: Fenn's meticulous research and respect for Hawaiian culture shine through, adding an authentic and eerie atmosphere to the story.

* Suspenseful and Atmospheric: The novel maintains a constant sense of dread, with a slow-burn build-up that culminates in heart-pounding suspense.

* Intriguing Characters: Emma's journey is compelling, and her interactions with the enigmatic Kai offer a fascinating dynamic.

* Chilling Supernatural Elements: The Night Marchers themselves are both terrifying and mesmerizing, making for some truly unforgettable moments.

What Could Have Been Better:

* Pacing Issues: While the story is engaging, the pacing can feel uneven at times, with some sections dragging slightly.

* Predictable Twists: Some of the plot twists, while effective, may be anticipated by seasoned horror readers.

Overall:

The Night Marchers is a must-read for fans of supernatural horror. Fenn's skillful storytelling and evocative descriptions create a haunting world that lingers long after the final page. While it may not be a groundbreaking masterpiece, it offers a thrilling and culturally rich experience.
