While Joan and the Cardozas race to unravel a centuries-old secret that could destroy time itself, an ancient, heartbroken drifter lurks on the edges of their lives, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
And he may know more about Joan’s past than she does.
In this funny and mesmerizing first installment of the Keepers of Time trilogy, M. N. Kinch weaves a magical story of romance and found family, with unforgettable characters you’ll love from the very first page.
In Keepers of Time M. N. Kinch was able to come up with a magical story encompasses through time and history. It is about Dr. Elizabeth Harris, a historian, who stumbles upon an ancient organization, called chronomonitors or Keepers in the story, whose purpose is to protect the timeline.
One night Elizabeth is exploring the new dig site that she has joined and she digs up an artifact and soon she finds her self involved in time travelling and conspiracies. Instead, Kinch ties the somewhat dry historical facts with fictional elements in such a way that isn’t only amusing but makes the reader think about history in a deeper way.
Elizabeth is a more developed character with emotional struggles and moral conflicts and she can be considered as more realistic in comparison with other characters. The other characters such as the mysterious Adrian – the Keeper , or witty and humorous Sam bring substantive and touch of the emotionally driven plot.
This is further backed up with the pacing of the novel, which includes lots of epic action with set pieces, low points, meditative moments, and historical lectures in between. From this work it is possible to note that Kinch as the author pays much attention to the settings and it makes them really beautiful and believable.
One of the interesting things about Keepers of Time is that it is free from the gimmicks that typically come with the future and time machines concepts. Kinch also poses intricate metaphysical conundrums as to whether or not time travel is a matter of choice, and what the ramifications are historically, thus creating an element of philosophy.
Still, serious fans may be a bit disappointed by the fact that the book has an entangled plot and quite a lot of historical connections to the events described. Several of these plot twists will be pleasantly shocking to viewers; however, in a way they can all be considered somewhat cliché for lovers of classic genre films.
From a general perspective, Keepers of Time is an intellectually stimulating and invigorating book that will be of interest of science fiction enthusiasts, history enthusiasts, and lovers of adventure novels. M. N. Kinch has created a work of fiction that will demand the time of readers as well as consider the boundless eventuality of time. It’s truly an interesting and inspiring read for anyone who wants to explore different epochs on a fascinating journey.
