Worth reading 😎

This book is a story about how to deal with love, disguised as a love story.

Nicola Yoon’s Instructions for Dancing is about a love-cynic Evie, who gets a magical power to witness the entire life of any couple who kisses. These visions, along with dealing with her parents’ divorce, makes Evie avoid falling in love at all costs.

And then comes X… and one can guess what might happen next.

Despite how it might seem, this is not a love story.

This quote pretty much sums up the entire plot. This book is a story about how to deal with love, disguised as a love story.

There were a few elements which I absolutely loved. For instance, Evie’s friend group as the comic-relief was hilarious at times. I loved the idea of showing their group texts in between the sometimes-heavy plot.

I felt like the plot was a bit predictable, which sometimes became tedious. There was too much focus on Evie’s family dynamic and it seemed stretched out at parts. Despite that, the chapters were quite short and I could finish the book in just one sitting.

For me, the ending was very thought-provoking. It made me wonder that if I were in place of Evie, what would I had done. I definitely had long debates with my friends regarding this too.

Overall, it was a very fun read and definitely pulled me out of my reading slump.
