This book is a beautiful thing. A reading that makes you feel as though you are connected to the author and have been counted as a friend. It is refreshing, straight forward, revelatory, encouraging, and inspiring.
I have not watched a complete basketball season on television since the Chicago Bulls during the lead-up to their last championship win in 1998. Having grown up in Michigan during the height of the Pistons and Bulls dramatics and amazing ball play it kind of ruined me. Nothing has come close to comparing to the magic during those years. Needless to say then, I am currently not the biggest sport's fan.
The above being said, you do not need to be a ball player, sport's fan, or at all interested in sport's whatsoever to enjoy this book! It truly is written in a manner that all should be able to find words and messages to appreciate within its pages.
As a Christian, I especially appreciated this book as a teaching tool envisioning myself sitting at the author's feet as a student. Reminders of how you can hear the voice of God are prevalent. How God reveals himself within dreams and visions. Miracles still happen today!
I too have experienced God given dreams, revelations, and visions. To read of another's encounters with the Almighty brings about a feeling of having found a kindred spirit. If you are a person wondering of how to discern and hear God's voice for yourself, this book will provide you with valuable insight.
This is not just a memoir for the sake of a memoir being written. It is a living testimony! The title of this book is ingenious and appreciated. A reckoning that should inspire all of us to fall on our knees in prayer and supplication. Powerful in being reminded of our insignificance even within our amazing capabilities and prowess. Nothing comes from us alone but from a higher power allowing us to achieve, spurring us on, telling us to move for His honor and glory! It is imperative we remember to acknowledge The One who created us and that act alone should bring tears to our eyes.
I highly recommend this book to all those who are faith-based believers and for those who are seekers after the Truth. I look forward to reading this author's follow-up, "In Jesus Name We Played", as it will be a continuation of his story and those that surround him. Who couldn't use more inspiration and encouragement within their lives? Finding encouragement within another's story is part of what good reading is all about!
We don't live for ourselves but for others.
In Jesus' Name,
Amen.
