Howl-O-Ween Hijinks is another great book written by Mama & Papa Paws. It's an adorable Halloween story that your children will really enjoy reading and want to read over and over again!
Molly and her sisters are ready for Howl-o-ween. They help Mama & Papa decorate the house with pumpkins, leaves, cobwebs, lights, and have the treats ready. Now they are ready for their costumes!
They find a bag full of costumes but are not happy with what they find inside. They let Mama & Papa know and then Mama & Papa work with the dogs to figure what it is they all want to wear.
Through simple text and sweet illustrations, the author does a wonderful job of depicting the joy children (and dogs) feel during the Halloween.
Even though Molly and her sisters are dogs, young readers will be able to relate to them. They will not only relate in terms of feelings, but the preparation that takes place. The decorated house, the treats, and the costumes!
This book was quite funny as well. Children will giggle throughout particularly when the dogs find the costumes. Each of their reactions will bring you a smile, or make you laugh.
I also really liked the part when the dogs were comfortable expressing their opinion about the costumes Mama got them and Mama & Papa were open to their suggestions. It shows readers they should feel comfortable sharing their feelings, opinions, and concerns with their parents and parents should respect them.
The illustrations are colorful with a soft touch. They give a warm and soothing tone to the story. The dogs are all very adorable and young readers will love them.Â
I really enjoyed reading this story like all the others. It's an excellent add to the Papa & Paws collection as well as your Halloween collection. It's perfect for kids ages 0-5.

Nicholas J. Nawroth is Papa Paws. He is a dog lover and artist. At age 9, he created his first comic book featuring his dog, Woody, and has been drawing ever since. He has never lost touch with his childlike wonder and love of dogs, which he shares in his stories. view profile
