I'm an EFL English Teacher and I teach English to college students. I can say that this book is a very good resource for teaching English.
This can be an introduction to educating English. Its accentuation is on down to earth issues and it is suitable for self-study and for utilisation with classes of learner instructors. The early chapters address such issues as How can we be great instructors?, What makes a great learner? and how can instructors make classes way better?. The book proposes a way of looking at an assortment of educating strategies concurring to a single demonstration of instructing and goes on to offer a brief hypothetical direct to the depiction of dialect. Consequent chapters see particular educating strategies, especially in connection to the four aptitudes, as well as advertising thoughts on reading material utilize, lesson arranging and adapting to the unforeseen. For each chapter, an extension of errands is given to fortify wrangle about and assist thought.
the book is Well written but short introduction to the field of English language teaching. I was glad I read this book. The one section that was outstanding, however, was the chapter on how to describe language. Harmer manages to cover the basic points of English grammar in a very concise way. Since understanding and explaining grammar is a challenging part of teaching ESL, this chapter alone is worth the price of the book.
