Worth reading 😎

A short, fast read - what would happen if the magical world and the modern world collided?

This is a modern Sleeping Beauty retelling that centers around Rory (Aurora), who is brought up by her 'aunts' in the human realm. After she shares her first kiss with her crush, Carson, things change for her.

Rory learns that she isn't human. There is more than one 'true love' for her, and her choice can change her life. She is cursed to die. And she has to decide who to trust to possibly ensure her curse is not triggered.

I could very easily see how this story can be lengthened into a longer book, since so much information is given within this one book. You learn one thing after the other, and this can be too much at times. Having the info spread out and enhanced by character building, would help the progress of the plot more.

There are elements of the story that, when introduced, seem completely random, out of the blue. If we can get more insight, say, into the dragons and their lore in this story - some things might make more sense than it does now.

Even in saying all that, this book had entertainment value, and for that reason alone, I would easily recommend this book for fairy tale retelling lovers! Whether you just want a different take on the Sleeping Beauty story, or whether you want a fast read that won't bore you, this is worth it. Yes, it could be better executed, but the writing is good enough that you will still like it thoroughly.

A quick and easy read, with a lot of information crammed into this short story. I think that the execution could be a bit better and that at times there is a bit too much info dumping happening. If this first book is any indication then there is a lot more of this world to explore, and Rory's tale is far from over. If the writing improves with the plot, then this will become a must read for fairy tale lovers everywhere.

I am a book reviewer, preferring young adult fiction. I love reading books by indie authors most since these are the books most people don't talk about. I just started up my own blog, after having reviewed books on Amazon.
