Must read 🏆

"Ghost Train" delivers an unforgettable blend of suspense, horror, and emotion.

Synopsis

GHOST TRAIN is a YA Japanese Folk-Horror (blend of Historical Fiction and Dark Fantasy), set in the summer of 1877 Kyoto during the backdrop of the last samurai rebellion. Emperor Meiji is ushering in western ideals, technology and change, but as Old Japan comes tumbling down to make way for New Japan, ghosts emerge from the cracks with a cry for help. It’s up to one samurai's daughter to find the demon that took their lives…before it takes hers. It's all about taking on the patriarchy, trusting no one but yourself, and forging alliances with unlikely friends.

While there are paranormal elements to the story, it is based on true events. I wrote it in collaboration with Japanese historians and subject matter experts to ensure accuracy. It has been endorsed by Jake Adelstein (Tokyo Vice), Robert Whiting (You’ve Got to Find Wa), Shirley Miller Kamada (No Quiet Water), and more.

Ghost Train: A Haunting Thrill Ride

"Ghost Train" is a spine-tingling masterpiece that masterfully combines suspense, horror, and emotion into a ride you’ll never forget. From the moment the story begins, it hooks you with its eerie atmosphere, gripping plot, and unforgettable characters. This is not just another ghost storyit’s a journey into the unknown that lingers in your mind long after the last page.

The narrative follows a group of travelers who board a mysterious train that appears on a desolate track. What starts as an ordinary ride quickly spirals into a nightmare as the passengers realize the train isn’t headed to any destination they can comprehend. The suspense builds with each passing chapter, with secrets revealed at just the right pace to keep you hooked. Expertly crafted twists and turns keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat. What truly elevates "Ghost Train" is its rich character development. Each passenger has a distinct backstory, and their personal struggles weave seamlessly into the larger narrative. The interplay between the characters feels authentic, adding depth to the story and making you genuinely care about their fates. This emotional investment heightens the impact of every chilling revelation and nail-biting moment.

The setting deserves special praise. The train itself becomes a kind of character, its groaning carriages, ill-lit corridors, and otherworldly aura making you feel you are plonked down in the story itself. You will shiver at every drop of water and hear every ominous sound. The author never lets the tension slacken at any point in the story and creates an immersive experience which proves hard to put down.

Beyond the scares, "Ghost Train" explores themes of redemption, loss, and the weight of choices. It’s a rare blend of psychological depth and supernatural thrills, making it more than just a horror tale. It’s a reflection on humanity and the things that haunt us, both literally and figuratively.

Ghost Train" is a must-read for horror, suspense, and great storytelling fans. Perfectly balanced with fear, intrigue, and heart, it deserves a well-deserved five stars. It doesn't matter if you're a seasoned horror fan or a newcomer to the genre; this book will leave you breathless and eager to recommend it to others. Get ready for a ride you won't forget—just don't turn off the lights.
