Synopsis
Move over Chris Evans, Hemsworth, Pine and Pratt, there's a new Hollywood Chris in town...
Sophie Shah thinks dating an American movie star is a terrible idea. For a start, she’s got her hands full with her baby son and new business venture. And she’s just not that interested in red carpets, fancy parties and private jets. Anyway, there’s no way the man recently voted the “sexiest man alive” would be interested in a single mom who lives with her parents… right?
Publicly humiliated, movie star Chris Trent has fled to London to film a period drama. Focused on redeeming his reputation and improving his (questionable) British accent, a new relationship is the last thing on his mind. And Chris doesn’t pack light—he brings all his baggage with him.
Sophie’s and Chris’s worlds couldn’t be more different, but as their relationship unfolds they begin to think that maybe, just maybe, they could have a future together. But some baggage is hard to offload.
I am rating this book Five out of Five Stars because there was not a single thing I disliked about it; in fact, I have not stopped talking about how Chris Trent has my entire heart and I am completely upset that he is fictional. I would recommend this book to those that love a funny heart-warming rom-com.
This book is a heartbreaking and heartwarming novel that explores love, loss, and grief in a truly beautiful way. The author'swriting is stunningly emotional, and captures the rawness of grief and the power of love in a way that will leave you breathless. The characters are authentic and relatable, and their struggles will tug at your heartstrings. I was completely engrossed in this book from beginning to end and couldn't put it down. It is a powerful and poignant novel that will stay with you long after you finish reading it. I loved the growth experienced by the both main characters, and the epilogue was perfect. I would recommend this book to anyone of any age, as I read it as an early teen and a mid-twenties adult and loved it equally at both ages. I believe this book would be enjoyed by those that love enemies-to-lovers books, verbal sparring, chaotic families, headstrong and outspoken female main characters (in a charming sort of way), and a final chapter that may as well have been wrapped in a lovely little bow. The author's love for the family she has made, love for the community that has supported her but also love for herself- every part of herself- and I think that is what makes this book so beautiful to read.
I’d recommend this book to those of you who have a great love of nature because that love is echoed endlessly throughout the book. Those who enjoy the depth of emotion brought up by poetry. Those that love coming of age reads and love stories that cover life, death and everything in between. Those who enjoy a slight side of mystery and anyone as sensitive as me, that enjoys a good cry to a book. I’d recommend this book to anyone that enjoys the glorious mess of a chick flick that is solved with the happiest of endings.
Overall, "From LA to London, With Love" is a powerful and poignant novel that will stay with you long after you finish reading it. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good YA contemporary with a lot of heart.
