Not another stranger in a strange land, more like a traveler finds themselves in an unexpected destination.
I thought this trope was overplayed, but that shows you what I know. This book was a fun ride all the way through, largely because the stakes were low and the perspective was fun. A largely internal, low stakes story is such a refreshing thing after all of the end of the world scenarios we have all been subjected to over the past few decades. Had the main character 'hit her mark' the story and circumstance would have been higher stakes, but also would have been far less interesting in the end. The less that is said about the specific circumstances the better, but suffice it to say our traveler ends up far from where she intended to end up, doing something she did not intend to do. But it works out for everyone once she gets her feet on the ground and her balance back. The book is well edited, and evenly paced. It is written in the present tense, but I hardly noticed the present tense format after the first few minutes, which is rare and good. It's a work of fiction, sure, but there might be a thing or two to learn in it. All in all, a dollar well spent.
Aaron was trained as a scientist, but heβs worn so many hats in this crazy world he hardly knows which one to call his own. Now he is an author, writing about his hidden passions; history and mythology. Aaron has lived 12 years in the Ann Arbor area with his friends and family, making it work.
