"Flutter By, Butterfly" is another charming story by Rebecca Atanassova; its simplicity is ideal for babies and toddlers.

Synopsis

Step into a world of adventure with Alice, our charming protagonist, in her new story, "Flutter By, Butterfly." After the success of "Trouble With Bubbles" and “The Bumbling Bumblebee,” Alice invites you into a world where a curious butterfly dances through the pages, teaching valuable lessons along the way in this enchanting tale that’s perfect for children and families. It's never too late for a metamorphosis, and as we follow the whimsical journey of a playful butterfly weaving its way through the pages and into our hearts, this story reminds us of the beauty that change can bring. Through the butterfly's graceful flights and dances, young readers will learn valuable lessons about patience, persistence, and the joy of discovery. Explore the mystery as the butterfly disappears and reappears, engaging their minds and hearts while fostering a love for reading and learning. "Flutter By, Butterfly" is not only an enchanting story but also an educational tool that introduces kids to the wonders of nature and the intricate world of insects. Share the magic of "Flutter By, Butterfly" with your loved ones. This heartwarming tale makes a perfect gift, inspiring both children and adults to embrace change and growth.

According to the A-Z Animals (website) and Entomological Society of America (ESA), insects number over ten quintillions. There are approximately 1.4 billion insects per person. That number is mind-boggling and doesn't include arthropods (e.g., spiders). Among that astronomical number are approximately 20,000 species of butterflies.

Flutter By, Butterfly spotlights ONE butterfly with yellow wings, black stripes, and a speckle of red and blue on its hindwings. Alice observes the butterfly as it flits from one flower to another. She watches it glide between two trees. It fluttered high, swopped down low, and briefly disappeared from Alice's line of sight. With patience, Alice and the beautiful butterfly's paths soon crossed.

Flutter By, Butterfly is another charming story by Rebecca Atanassova; its simplicity is ideal for babies and toddlers. However, the story contents and the book's summary do not align 100%. "It's never too late for a metamorphosis, and this delightful story is here to remind us all of the beauty that change can bring." Regarding this statement, the author should've had Alice observe the butterfly's life cycle and (then) follow it as it flutters to and fro. That would fulfill the author's note their story can be used as an "educational tool that introduces kids to the wonders of nature and the intricate world of insects" and "inspiring both children and adults to embrace change and growth."

My score reflects the story content in comparison to the synopsis. While the story was adorable, it did not project what the synopsis promised. Not completely. I would recommend revising the summary or infusing more educational material into the story. Another option would be adding links (digital copy) or a QR code (digital or print) to expand on the topic: butterflies in nature.

As is, I recommend the cute picture book to children birth to 2 years.
