Now I want to preface everything I have to say here with a clear note that I didn't realise this was book 3 of a series before I requested to review it. It was my own fault, I clearly didn't notice this before I requested the book as I wouldn't want to risk causing any issues to the author. It would be unfair of me to request, read a book and write the review without myself being honest about that. I will also say that I didn't finish the book, not for a lack of enjoyment, purely because without the first 2 in the series, I couldn't give it a fair review so I chose to stop.
Now I will say that when I started the book I knew something was off, I felt thrown into a story and spent longer than I care to admit wondering why the author had written the story in a way that wasn't introducing these characters but more talking to me as if I should already have known things about them. However, as I didn't realise until a bit later on, I pushed through the story and actually managed to grasp what had happened before the start of the book very well, to a point where I assumed more information about the previous life of the character would be given throughout the story.
That's a big plus of this book. Despite the fact I'd missed two books already, the author had such a simple worrying style that allowed me to understand what was going on.
I would always encourage people to give this series a chance. Just be smarter than me and maybe read the first two books in the series first. I'm certain it will be much easier to understand if you did.
