Worth reading 😎

No issues with the book at all, I just realised it was book 3 in a series too late. Please still read it

Synopsis

Isabelle Mirran returns from war as the country's "Lady Champion." Her magical prowess helped to win the war. Now the war is her heart; as Crown Prince Andrew and Prince Braidus have come to an agreement of a dual courtship with one coming out the victor. Word of her magical abilities races through Aberron and neighboring kingdoms. Everybody wants to lay claim to her and form an alliance to benefit themselves.
While Isabelle struggles to maintain her agenda of peace, she’s pulled into the world of the Gods. They’ve been watching her, waiting for the right moment to use her for their own needs. Turns out the Gods have a little war of their own going on and Isabelle has just become their preferred weapon.

Now I want to preface everything I have to say here with a clear note that I didn't realise this was book 3 of a series before I requested to review it. It was my own fault, I clearly didn't notice this before I requested the book as I wouldn't want to risk causing any issues to the author. It would be unfair of me to request, read a book and write the review without myself being honest about that. I will also say that I didn't finish the book, not for a lack of enjoyment, purely because without the first 2 in the series, I couldn't give it a fair review so I chose to stop.

Now I will say that when I started the book I knew something was off, I felt thrown into a story and spent longer than I care to admit wondering why the author had written the story in a way that wasn't introducing these characters but more talking to me as if I should already have known things about them. However, as I didn't realise until a bit later on, I pushed through the story and actually managed to grasp what had happened before the start of the book very well, to a point where I assumed more information about the previous life of the character would be given throughout the story.

That's a big plus of this book. Despite the fact I'd missed two books already, the author had such a simple worrying style that allowed me to understand what was going on.

I would always encourage people to give this series a chance. Just be smarter than me and maybe read the first two books in the series first. I'm certain it will be much easier to understand if you did.

Favorite excerpts about her Fate!

“How cruel you are to subject me to so much deceit,” I whispered.

“I take no pleasure in causing you pain, unlike Isaac, who seeks to see you suffer for his enjoyment.” Haldren gestured to my crimson hand. The burn traveled upward, nearly reaching my shoulder. “Everything I have done is with a greater purpose in mind—to prepare you for your role...

Isaac focused on the Creator. “Or maybe he is the cruel one, making us slaves to his will, giving us a slice of his power, then taking it away when we have done nothing to deserve it.” He leveled his eyes at me. “Forcing us to be weak again when we don’t have to be.”

---

Haldren appeared beside me. “The world does not burn, though we came awfully close to destroying it.”

I leveled my eyes at him. “It may still burn yet.
