Imaginative sci-fi story about fun space adventures, unstoppable heroine, engineering and science
The first in a new series of hilariously funny, early reader sci-fi chapter books perfect for elementary-aged kids. Meet Eudora Jenkins, the math and science whiz who lives in SPACE!
Eudora is a normal 3rd grader. A normal 3rd grader who lives on a 36 deck AstroLiner. In space. A normal girl adopted by what you might call . . . aliens. Whose mom is a dog-like species named Pox who runs the onboard jail (brig) and whose dad is an octopus-like species from the planet Pow. A girl who has normal ambitions, like being the chief engineer on an AstroLiner. A girl who comes up with a plan to prove her worth by improving her ship’s engines and breaking all known speed records. Will she succeed and earn a promotion? Or will she end up in the brig? Again . . .
Eudora Space Kid: The Great Engine Room Takeover by David Horn is the first book in the new chapter book series for little sci-fi fans. It features Eudora Jenkins, a third grader living on a huge spaceship that travels faster than the speed of light, exploring new planets and stars.
Ambitious, self-confident, and resourceful, Eudora is not afraid of making mistakes. She is full of crazy and even dangerous ideas, like firing plasma cannons at asteroids while the space crew is not watching. Not surprisingly, constant experiments and reckless behavior often put her in trouble, and in most cases she ends up in the onboard jail, managed by her adoptive alien mother.
Because of her passion for science, math and engineering, Eudora's biggest dream is to be a chief engineer on the spaceship one day. So when she gets an idea about breaking all known speed records, which she thinks will immediately bring her closer to her dream, no spaceship rules will be able to stop her!
Presented from the point of view of the main character, this imaginative sci-fi story with black and white illustrations will be a great fit for elementary school kids who enjoy reading about fun space adventures, unstoppable characters, engineering and science.
