This is what happens when you learn to trust yourself and let go of worrying about what others think of you!
This feels like a different style of romance novel than I'm used to. I appreciate it a lot more now that I'm finished than when I was in the middle of it. It's a slow moving story. And while the love story does weave in and out throughout the plot, the focus is more on Georgina's life and her personal journey. It made me laugh out loud in spots, then I was near tears at others. I'm learning that's a sign of a well-written romance. Speaking of the writing, it's top-notch. I highlighted a bunch of lines for their genius, construction, or pure wit. This is a story about growing up, about learning to trust yourself and stand up for yourself. It's about learning to let go of what other people think of you, even when that's family or a romantic partner. I loved watching Georgina come into her own power. Be warned there are some heavy themes here: sexual assault, cancer, grief, infidelity, family secrets. I highly recommend this one for romance readers, and general contemporary fiction readers as well.
