Dear Darwin* is a heartwarming and imaginative tale that follows a dedicated little mouse named Darwin on an enchanting journey to discover the wonders of lavender. The story begins with Darwin’s annual ritual of savoring a special vanilla tea, but his adventure opens up a new possibility: the enchanting world of lavender.

Darwin, who enjoys foraging for berries and flowers and adding decorative touches to his baked goods, is delighted when his friend Elderon sends him a map to a hidden lavender field. The narrative weaves Darwin’s love for floral aesthetics into the plot, making the quest both personal and charming.

As Darwin sets out, he encounters Squirrel Newton, who provides some advice and a snack of acorns, adding a layer of endearing detail to the adventure. The story is visually rich, featuring illustrations of Darwin’s adorable Windboat—an inventive combination of a hot air balloon and glider—which captures the whimsy and creativity of the book. The illustrations further enhance the tale, from the cute crane with a hat and pocket watch to the lush lavender fields.

Darwin’s journey is fraught with imaginative obstacles, including poisonous mushrooms and a mystical forest. His encounters with various characters, including a large creature with a penchant for snow rabbits, lead him closer to his goal. The story culminates in a satisfying discovery of the lavender fields, which match his love for violets and reward his perseverance.
